Parkersburg News and Sentinel

James Robert Jones, 83, of Deland, Fla., passed away peacefully on April 28, 2013, surrounded by his family and his loving dog, David.

Bob was born in Fairmont, W.Va., but grew to adulthood in Parkersburg. He was the son of Stacy Jones and Grace Leonard. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Tom and sister, Ruth. Bob was a mechanical engineer, a graduate of West Virginia University. Bob's education was interrupted for two years as he served in Korea with the Army Corps of Engineers. His professional career thereafter saw him leading the Scientific Glassware Department for Corning Glass Works for a number of years. With his engineer's curiosity he tackled many mediums including glass, plastics and metals. He was above all a loving husband and a playful Dad! Bob had the ability to find something interesting in every moment or event. His enthusiasm for travel and curious nature led to many lifelong friendships. Always quick with a funny story Bob was a wonderful and witty friend to many.

A graveside prayer service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at Mount Olivet in Parkersburg. Arrangements are being handled by Leavitt Funeral Home, of Parkersburg. Online condolences may be sent to www.leavittfuneralhome.com

Please remember Hospice of the Comforter of Orlando in your prayers, and with a donation.
