PARKERSBURG - Two sentencings, a plea and a motion were heard Friday in Wood County Circuit Court.
* Charles Carlyle Payne, 55, in custody at the North Central Regional Jail, appeared for a resentencing for appeal purposes; however, he objected to the resentencing motion and made a motion for a new attorney. Judge Robert Waters granted the motion for a new attorney but denied the resentencing motion.
Payne was sentenced on May 21, 2012, after he was convicted on three counts of delivery of a controlled substance, crack cocaine. His sentence was one to 15 years with credit for 70 days served for the first two counts and one to 15 years with no credit for time served on the third. His sentences for the first two counts were to be served concurrently and the third was consecutive to the first two.
* Jesse David Carpenter, 30, 304 Palmer Drive, Parkersburg, was sentenced after his February conviction for unlawful assault as charged by the May 2011 grand jury. Judge J.D. Beane sentenced him to one to five years in prison with credit for 98 days served. A motion for alternative sentencing or probation was denied.
* Natosha Nicole Patterson, 23, 1326 Wells Circle, Parkersburg was sentenced after her guilty plea to two charges of uttering as charged by the May 2012 grand jury. Patterson was sentenced by Beane to two consecutive terms of 12 months in jail with credit for 12 days served, suspended for two years probation to allow her to participate in the drug court program.
* Michael E. Kesterson II, 19, in custody at the North Central Regional Jail, pleaded guilty to a bill of information for manufacturing a controlled substance, methamphetamine. His sentencing was set for 1 p.m. July 11 before Waters. A motion for bond with home confinement was denied.
