Eva Darling, 68, of New Castle, Ind., went home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 22, 2013, at St. Vincent Hospice in Indianapolis, Ind.
She was born Feb. 3, 1945, in Parkersburg, W.Va., a daughter of the late George and Retta (Buckley) Byers. Eva married the love of her life, Max Darling, on Sept. 16, 1962. She worked at Stonebrooke Rehabilitation Center in New Castle, Ind. for 33 years, where she gave wonderful care to the residents and enjoyed close friendship with many co-workers over the years. She enjoyed reading, and earlier in life was an excellent writer.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Max Darling; two sons, Jim (wife, Becky) Darling of New Castle, Ind., and Charlie (wife, Stacy) Darling of Spiceland, Ind.; grandchildren, Brice (wife, Allison) Darling, Brooke Darling (Jon Firle), and Blaine Darling; two sisters, Joyce (husband, Paul) McMullen and Wanda (husband, Jim) Atkinson, both of Parkersburg, W.Va.; a daughter, Teresa, and her two sons; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Janet Carson; a brother, Skip Byers; an aunt, Helen Drennan; and an uncle, Russell Buckley.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Sproles Family Funeral Home in New Castle, Ind., with Pastor Mark Herbkersman and Pastor Frank Wood officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memory Gardens in New Castle, Ind. Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Thursday, and one hour prior to the service Friday at the funeral home.
