Roger Clarkson Gabbert, 74, of Okeechobee, Fla. and Parkersburg, W.Va., died on Sunday, April 21, 2013, at the Arbors of Marietta.
He was born Nov. 23, 1938, in Slate, W.Va., to the late Howard and Ethel (Derenberger) Gabbert. Roger was the former owner of Gabbert Auto Sales and retired from Kincheloe Motors. He was a member of VFW #10539 in Okeechobee, Fla., Moose Lodge #1118 in Parkersburg, W.Va., and the Fraternal Order of Eagles #4509 in Okeechobee, Fla. He enjoyed fishing and camping with his wife.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Deloris McClung Gabbert; one son, Roger Keith (Belinda) Gabbert of Odenville, Ala.; one daughter, Crystal Diane (Gary) Sharp of Murraysville, W.Va.; two brothers, Allen Wayne (Karen) Gabbert of Washington, W.Va., and James Howard Gabbert (Camille Conroy) of Parkersburg, W.Va.; three sisters, Janet Clegg of Lake Stevens, Wash., Joyce (Leon) Brown of Marietta, Ohio, and Rebecca Sue Ohse of Belpre, Ohio; four grandchildren, Roger Jr., Jessica and Michael Gabbert and Erik Peoples; and four great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Ricky Lee Gabbert; and infant brother, John David Gabbert.
At specific request of Roger, he will be cremated and there will be no services or visitation.
