Hoy Carl Lorentz, 91, of Belpre, Ohio, passed away peacefully, April 13, 2013, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born Sept. 11, 1921, in Coxs Mills, W.Va.
He was preceded in death three weeks previous by his loving wife of 68 years, Lucille. Also preceding him in death were his parents, John and Theodosia Lorentz; step-mother, Alta Lorentz; brothers, Roy, Doy and John Dale; and sister, Joy Furr.
Hoy was a member of the Belpre Church of Christ for over 60 years.
He is survived by his loving family, son, Darien (Judy) Lorentz of Belpre, Ohio; son, Larry (Sandy) Lorentz of Belpre, Ohio; daughter, Debra (Jim) Sarver of Gahanna, Ohio; daughter, Brenda (Tony) Rush of Pataskala, Ohio; grandchildren, Kim, Tracy, Todd, Jeremiah, Sabrina, Taylor and Brandon; great-grandchildren, Sierra, Wesley, Ryan, Loren, Cyler, Avery, Samantha, Matthew, Miah, Owen and Eli; and a brother, Don Lorentz.
Hoy was a WWII veteran. He worked for Carl Stephens Construction Company for 36 years and was known as the 'Market Street Kid.' His last job for Carl was working on his beloved Blennerhassett Mansion. He was a faithful volunteer for the Belpre Holiday Lights for the last six years, and loved woodworking and traveling.
A memorial service will be held 5 p.m. Sunday, May 5, at the Belpre Church of Christ, 2932 Washington Blvd. Family will be available to receive guests at 4 p.m.
