Walter Wayne Burdette, 83, of Leroy, Jackson County passed away April 9, 2013, at Hubbard Hospice House following a long illness.
He was born Nov. 10, 1929 at Roane County, a son of the late Henry Clinton and Lula Blanch Cline Burdette. He was a Christian and a member of the Mill Creek Baptist Church where he served as a trustee. He retired from Kaiser Aluminum with over 30 years of service. He enjoyed wood working and hunting.
He is survived by his wife Violet M. Mitchell Burdette; sons Gregory (Debbie) Burdette of Parkersburg and Stephen (Debby) Burdette of Charleston; grandchildren Jason (Missy) Burdette, Sarah Beth Burdette and Rachel Anne (Roger) Adkins; seven great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers William Harold Burdette, Elmer Burdette, Edward Elliott Burdette, Denver Paul Burdette and Kenneth Rex Burdette and a sister Helen Irene (Burdette) Hall.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, April 12, at the Mill Creek Baptist Church, Frozen Camp with Pastor Bob Keen officiating. Burial will be in the Baptist Grove Cemetery, Frozen Camp. Friends may call from 7-8 p.m. today at the Wayright Funeral Home, Ripley.
