Edna Catherine Kerns, 86, of Parkersburg, passed away April 6, 2013, at Camden Clark Medical Center, St. Joseph's Campus.
She was born May 25, 1926, in Ritchie County, a daughter of the late Melvin and Jessie Haught Hannan.
She was a homemaker, and retired from the Wood County Board of Education after several years of service. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 14 Parkersburg, Parkersburg Womens Club, and was a member of Parkview United Methodist Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Barbara L. Morris of Parkersburg; one son, David E. Kerns and wife, Anne, also of Parkersburg; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a half-sister, Edith Myers of New Jersey; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Kerns; a half-sister, Gladys Ocholtree; three brothers, Ronald, Robert and Leo Hannan; and one great-grandchild, David E. Kerns Rice.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St., Parkersburg, with Pastors Kenneth Nolan and Rick Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen North Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
