PARKERSBURG - A Parkersburg man and woman were arrested on drug charges Tuesday after a search warrant was executed on March 28, police said.
Alan Keith Philpot, 45, of 113 Elm Tree Drive and Amber Oliver, 23, of 111 Elm Tree Drive were arrested on charges of possession with intent to deliver bath salts after a warrant was obtained by the Parkersburg detachment of the West Virginia State Police, officials said.
Wood County Sheriff's Office detectives along with its Narcotics Enforcement Team arrested the two suspects at 1:28 p.m. Tuesday near the Red Roof Inn on Seventh Street in Parkersburg, officials said.
The previous search warrant, executed on March 28, alleged Philpot was in possession of bath salts and an undisclosed amount of money.
Sheriff's detectives spotted a vehicle believed to be in Philpot's possession Tuesday parked at the Omelet Shoppe and began surveillance operations, police said.
According to police records, a traffic stop was conducted after investigators observed Philpot and an unidentified female, later determined to be Oliver, enter the vehicle and turn onto U.S. 50 westbound. Investigators allegedly found suspected bath salts and money.
Both occupants of the vehicle were charged with possession with the intent to deliver bath salts and transported to the Wood County Holding Center for processing.
Philpot was arraigned around 4 p.m. in front of Magistrate Brenda Marshall on the charge of felony possession of a firearm and possession with the intent to deliver bath salts. He was confined to the holding center on a $150,000 cash bond, according to court records. Officials said they believe he will be taken to the North Central Regional Jail.
Oliver was arraigned around 4 p.m. in front of Magistrate Joe Kuhl and confined on a $10,000 bond.
Philpot was arrested on charges of driving on a license revoked for DUI after the March 28 search warrant was executed. He was out on bond at the time on charges of possession with the intent to deliver marijuana and prohibited person in possession of a firearm from a Nov. 1, 2012, search warrant conducted at his residence, police said.
During the November incident, about 30 guns were confiscated from Philpot's residence, police said.
Philpot was arraigned on the misdemeanor warrants and released on bond again March 28, officials said.
During the search warrant, investigators said they found an undisclosed amount of pills, suspected bath salts and an undisclosed amount of marijuana. Officers also recovered at the residence a handgun, two shotguns, a rifle and two vehicles reported stolen from Parkersburg recently, police said.
