Virginia McGary

Virginia M. McGary, 77, was summoned home on Monday, April 1, 2013.

She was born Jan. 16, 1936, in Scio, Ohio, to Lanson M. and Mary E. (Yantz) Dickerson. She attended Jewett High School. She married Alfred E. McGary on July 18, 1953. She worked at the Scio Pottery Company for 15 years before moving to Belpre, where she worked at Harts Department Store and David Weiss. She earned her GED at Parkersburg South High School. She moved to North Carolina, where she worked at Unifi for 18 years before moving to Marietta.

She is survived by one son, Allen E. McGary of North Carolina; two daughters, Marsha (Terry) Howell of Marietta, and Nancy Gray of Yadkinville, N.C.; six grandchildren, Heather (Kris) Capps of Clayton, N.C., Rebekah (Josh) Wallace of Statesville, N.C., PFC Caleb Gray of South Korea, and Ted, Andrew and Philip Howell, all of Marietta; two great-granddaughters, Angelia Herron and Kathleen Howard of Clayton, N.C. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; and son-in-law, Willy Gray.

In accordance with her wishes, she will be cremated.

A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday afternoon at the First Baptist Church of Belpre.
