Jack W. Ankrom, 77, of Parkersburg, passed away on April 1, 2013, at his residence, under the loving care of his family and Housecalls Hospice.
He was born in Parkersburg, on Oct. 22, 1935, a son of the late J. Donnley and C. Henrietta Teft Ankrom. Jack was a decorated U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War and served as an electricians mate. He had worked for Walker Parkersburg for several years serving as a supervisor. He retired from the Corps of Engineers after 18 years, where he served as a lock and dam operator at the Willow Island Dam. He enjoyed the outdoors, golfing, camping and loved his pets. He had a good sense of humor and enjoyed visiting with family and friends. He was a member of the American Legion Post #15 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles #2307, where he had once served as a trustee.
Surviving Jack are his wife of 21 years, Geraldine Lann Ankrom; sons, Martin E. Ankrom of Parkersburg and Dan W. Ankrom of Virginia; four grandchildren; step-children, Craig Lowe and Kim of Parkersburg, and Junita Emrick and Mike of Parkersburg; four step-grandchildren; sisters, Jean Larose Young and Irma Donna Hudgins, both of Parkersburg; and brothers, James Ankrom and Rose of Washington, and George Ankrom and Ruth of Veto. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Doris Connley.
