ST. MARYS- A Pleasants County teacher charged with drug possession has been suspended indefinitely without pay.
Alexandra Lemley, a middle/junior high teacher in the Pleasants County School System, was arrested earlier this month in Ohio by the Monroe County Sheriff's Office. Thursday, the Pleasants County Board of Education voted to suspend her.
"She was suspended without pay indefinitely, while the investigation continues," Pleasants County Schools Superintendent Mike Wells said. "It was voted (Thursday) night and is retroactive until March 13."
Lemley, 27, was found with heroin, pills and cocaine on March 13, officials said. She was arrested along with three others.
Lemley and her cohorts were arrested with help from the Monroe County officials along with the major crimes task force. Their vehicle was followed to Columbus and back to Monroe County when it was intercepted.
Law enforcement officials recovered 12 grams of heroin, oxycodone pills, two grams of crack cocaine and numerous paraphernalia as result of their search.
Lemley's bond was set at $61,000 in Washington County. She remains in custody in the Washington County Jail.
