Roy L. Barrett, 84, of Vienna, W.Va., passed away March 25, 2013, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.
Roy was born Feb. 22, 1929, in Parkersburg, son of Dallas and Edna Hall Barrett. He retired in 1967 from the U.S. Army after 20 years of service. There after, he worked for 17 years with the Bureau Of Public Debt, retiring in Feb. 1991. He was a member of VFW Post #1212, Elks Lodge #198, Fraternal Order of Eagles #2307, and Life Time Member of the American Legion Post #15, where he also served on the Color Guard.
Roy is survived by his wife, Charlotte R. Barrett; two daughters and their husbands, Janet and David George and Lori and Michael Shultz, all of Vienna; granddaughter, Megan Reynolds; great-grandsons, Ethan and Cohen; sister, Nina Reynolds; three step-nieces and a step-nephew; he especially loved his cat, Trixie. She was his special friend. He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters; and one brother.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home in Vienna, with Pastor Jim Yoak presiding. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Parkersburg, with full military rights by the American Legion Post #15 Color Guard. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
