James B. "Jim" Hix, 91, of Parkersburg, died March 22, 2013, at Worthington Care Center, Parkersburg.
Jim was born Aug. 11, 1921, at Decota, W.Va., son of the late Malcolm and Minnie Turnbull Hix.
He was educated in Charleston, W.Va., schools and was a 1939 graduate of Charleston High School. He attended Morris Harvey College, and was a 1948 graduate of West Virginia University. Jim served in India with the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II. He worked for Guthrie-Morris-Campbell & Co. for many years as a salesman and retired in 1984. He was a 50-plus year member of First United Methodist Church, Parkersburg, and a member of the One Plus Sunday School Class.
He is survived by his wife, June H. Hogsett Hix; two daughters, Terry Benson (Bruce) of Champaign, Ill., and Cathy Bretz (Erick) of Muncie, Ind.; and five grandchildren, Adam Bretz of West Lafayette, Ind., Erin and Ian Bretz of Muncie, Ind., and Emily and Anna Benson of Champaign, Ill
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Albert H. Hix.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church, 10th and Juliana streets, Parkersburg, with the Rev. Dr. Damon Rhodes officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Friday at Vaughan Funeral Home, Parkersburg.
