Alfred H. Blizzard, 82, of Belpre, Ohio, died March 23, 2013, at Camden Clark Medical Center.
He was born in Portsmouth, Ohio, on Sept. 16, 1930, and was the son of the late Mary Blizzard Gamble.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, having served 1949-1950 and 1951-1952, and retired from the reserves in 1960. He served at Edwards Air Force Base with some of the greatest in history. In 1954, he married Helen (Vicki) Phillips in Detroit, Mich., who preceded him in death in 2004. He was a founding member of Viking Fabrications of Marietta in 1962, and served as Vice President, General Manager and Senior Estimator over the years until his retirement. He enjoyed working with flowers, shrubbery, collecting bricks, old tools and watching NASCAR and other sports. He enjoyed all forms of wildlife and nature, and loved his family dearly.
Survivors include his four children, Lynne (Mike) McGuire, Rick (Mikki) Blizzard, Renee Clegg and Robby (Dee) Blizzard, all of the Belpre area; four grandchildren, Shayne (Carry) Wilson of Belpre, Rhiannon Blizzard of Belpre, Katy Clegg of Washington state and Kyle Blizzard of Florida.
He was preceded in death by his mother and his wife.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre, with Ron Paul McGuire presiding, with burial in Evergreen Cemetery Belpre. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
