MARIETTA - A Vincent man was arrested Thursday at the Comfort Inn in Marietta after allegedly holding a female friend against her will with a stolen gun.
Duane E. Hough II, 38, of 8415 Ohio 550, was arrested for obstructing official business after allegedly lying to officers about having a gun in the room. Hough was also charged with receiving stolen property when it was found the gun belonged to Hough's neighbor, James Vannoy, who had reported it stolen.
According to a statement of facts from the Marietta Police Department, officers responded to the Comfort Inn Thursday after two hotel guests reported hearing a man and woman arguing and creating a disturbance the previous night.

One guest, Danny Cornett, of Indianapolis, Ind., told officers he had heard a loud pop after the argument that sounded like a gunshot. Cornett told officers that one of his co-workers had approached the woman and was told she was being held in the room by a male friend with a gun. The woman, Jacyln Grayson, also of 8415 Ohio 550, told Cornett's friend that Hough had shot at her, police said.
Upon arrival, officers secured Hough and asked him multiple times if there was a gun in the room. According to the statement of facts, Hough repeatedly denied having a gun in the room.
Officers found a loaded .22-caliber semi-automatic pistol on the floor under the edge of a bed. The gun, said the statement, was identified by its serial number as the stolen gun belonging to Vannoy.
Hough claimed the gun had been given to him by Vannoy's son - something which Vannoy's son denied, said the statement of facts.
Hough is being held without bond at the Washington County Jail pending his arraignment Monday at 8 a.m.
He will also be summoned to Marietta Municipal Court for allegedly discharging a firearm inside the city.
