Clara M. Balser

Clara M. Balser, 79, of Parkersburg, departed this life on Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at Camden Clark Medical Center, Memorial Campus, following an extended illness.

Clara was born April 28, 1933 in Ravenswood, W.Va., a daughter of the late George and Lola M. (Cline) Patterson. Clara served as a former cook for various restaurants in the Parkersburg area including Shoney's, The Windmill, and Benny's Waffle Iron. She also served as a housekeeper for St. Joseph's Hospital and loved playing bingo and music.

Clara is survived by her children, Daniel L. Balser, Judith M. Booth, Darrell J. Balser, Larry W. Balser, Ronnie A. Balser, Sue Ann Silcox, Wesley V. Balser, George H. Balser, Paula D. Lyons, Randy Balser; her special baby, Sue Ellen, along with two brothers, two sisters; 34 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Earl Balser, Jr; children, Joe L. Balser and Rhonda Balser, 4 sisters and 4 brothers.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Pastor Bill Eakle officiating. Burial will follow in the Big Tygart Cemetery near Rockport, W.Va. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
