Robert F. (Bob) Mitchell, 79, of North Canton, Ohio, (formerly of New Martinsville, W.Va.) died Friday, March 15, 2013, at the St. Luke's Lutheran Nursing Home, North Canton, Ohio.

He was born Jan. 14, 1934 in Petersburg, W.Va., a son of the late Bryan Franklin and Esther Whisler Forman Mitchell.

Bob was a retired Chemist from PPG Chemicals; a U.S. Army veteran; a member of the New Martinsville United Methodist Church; Moose Lodge #931, New Martinsville; Wetzel Lodge #39 A.F.&A.M.; Osiris Shrine; VFW Post#6327, Sistersville, W.Va.; and the American Legion.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two children, William Franklin and Mary Louise Mitchell and his step-mother, Jane Brattain Mitchell.

Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Karen Morey Mitchell (PHS Class of 1953); three daughters: Betty Ann (William "Bill") Thomas of Sardis, Ohio, Emily Alford of Morgantown, W.Va., and Carol Fier of Canton, Ohio; one son: Charles (Martha) Mitchell of Broadlands, Va.; one brother: Bryan (Gaye) Mitchell of Martinsburg; two sisters: Mary Jane (Donnie) Bensenhaver of Alabama and Betty Lu (Allen) Heimbold of Florida; five grandchildren: Melissa Natale, Matt Ringler, Robbie Mitchell, Mary Beth Mitchell and Dominic Fier, and three great grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Grisell Funeral Home, 751 Third St., New Martinsville from 4-8 p.m. Friday, March 22, with Moose Lodge services at 6 p.m. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, March 23, at the New Martinsville United Methodist Church with Rev. Melissa Shortridge officiating. After the graveside services, a meal will be provided at the church.
