Robert William Casto, 78, of Mineral Wells, formerly of Rockport, passed away on March 18, 2013, at Camden Clark Medical Center, Memorial Campus.
He was born in Mineral Wells on Oct. 29, 1934, a son of the late Ernest O. and Mary Alice Ayers Casto. He and his wife Mary lived in the Rockport area for over 40 years, moving to Mineral Wells in 2012. He was a dozer operator in the excavaction business for many years, an occupation he enjoyed very much. He spent time fishing, four wheeling, and liked to camp in the Webster Springs area with his faithful companion by his side, his dog Zoie.
Robert is survived by his wife, Mary R. Allman Casto; children, Dorothy Springer of Coolville, Danny Casto of Boaz, Wayne Casto and Deborah of Belpre, Raymond Casto of Boaz, and Carolyn Hardman of Coolville; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; brothers, Clyde Casto and Betty, Laken Casto and Donna, Donnie Casto and Sharon, Gary Casto and Janet, Jack Casto and Regina, Terry Casto and Debbie and David Casto; sisters, Paulene Townsend and Charlie, Ada Mae Mele and Wilma Anderson and Vince; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his step-mother, Mildred Casto; brother, Ray Casto; and sisters, Charlene Burkes and Dorothy Casto.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg. Burial will be at the Rockport Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. today, and 10-11 a.m. Thursday prior to the service.
There will be a gathering after the funeral at the Fort Boreman Church.
