William Wesley Battin III, 59, of Vienna, passed away at his residence on March 11, 2013.
William was the son of Dorothy L. Mayo Battin of Vienna and the late William Wesley Battin. He was born Dec. 2, 1953, in Wood County.
William was a 1973 graduate of Parkersburg High School, and had two years of college. He worked as a press operator at the O'Ames plant and was also a receptionist at the Vienna Police Department. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, crafts and gardening.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Loretta (Kay) Battin; one son, Andrew J Battin and wife, Valerie Renee Craig-Battin, of Parkersburg; one sister, Pamela K. Moore and husband, Dan, of Veto, Ohio; two grandchildren, Vegas Renee Craig and Zane Noah Battin, both of Parkersburg; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, William was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Wes and Gladys Battin; his maternal grandparents, Ralph and Virginia Mayo; and a brother, John Edward Battin.
A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Friday at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Vienna, with Father John Gallagher officiating.
