SCHOOL HOLDS RIF DISTRIBUTION
American Legion Auxiliary Post 389 recently held a "Reading is Fun" book distribution for students grades K-6 at Beverly-Center Elementary. Each year, the group holds three book distributions where students can choose a book of their own, free of charge, from a wide selection of books provided by the organization. Each year, the Auxiliary spends approximately $4,000 to purchase books for students at Beverly-Center, Waterford and St. John's elementary schools. Funding assistance is provided by AEP and through the Legion's Poker Runs.
Assisting with this year's book distribution were Sue Trotter and Susanne Burchett, representing the auxiliary, and Debbie Miller, representing AEP.
The final Wednesday community Lenten service is scheduled for March 20 at 7:30 p.m. at the Waterford Nazarene Church with Rev. Tom O'Connor from the Beverly Presbyterian Church being the featured speaker. The Nazarene church is located at 111 Marquis Ave., Waterford. Next week's service will be held on Good Friday, March 29, at the Beverly United Methodist Church.
