WILLIAMSTOWN - Two vehicle accidents Wednesday night caused the Interstate 77 bridge from Williamstown to Marietta to be shut down in both lanes of travel, officials said.

Wood County sheriff deputies were called to the scene of a tractor-trailer accident without injury near the 183 milemarker of I-77. Deputies advised Wood County 911 dispatchers the bridge was becoming icy. The West Virginia Department of Highways has been notified of the road conditions, dispatchers said.

The first tractor-trailer accident resulted in fuel leaking onto the northbound lane of I-77; cleanup crews with the Parkersburg Fire Department were called to the scene around 8:40 p.m., officials said.
