MARIETTA - A traffic stop in Marietta Thursday yielded two arrests for possession of the synthetic drug known as bath salts.
Megan W. Skidmore, 25, of 2623 14th Ave., Parkersburg, and Ashley D. True, 24, of 17 Ash Circle, Davisville, were arrested and charged with knowingly possessing a schedule I drug, a fifth-degree felony, said Washington County Sheriff Larry Mincks.
The Major Crimes Task Force had been conducting surveillance on a Pike Street motel room since receiving information concerning suspicious activity there, he said.

Officers observed Skidmore, True and a male leave the motel room and drive away in a vehicle Thursday afternoon, said Mincks. The Marietta Police Department stopped the vehicle for a traffic violation, he said.
A K-9 sniff of the vehicle yielded a positive hit and in the vehicle, officers found a glass and funnel with white residue and a glass pipe belonging to Skidmore, Mincks said. A prescription bottle belonging to True contained a white powder that tested positive as bath salts, said Mincks.
They were being held without pond pending initial court appearances this morning, officials said. The male subject was released without charge.
