Sammy Paul Bunner, 66, of Pennsboro, passed away March 2, 2013, at The Arbors at Marietta.
He was born Dec. 12, 1946, in Ritchie County, a son of the late Paul and Gevevieve (Lamm) Bunner.
Sam retired from the Department of Highways as the Assistant Supervisor for Ritchie County. He attended the Bonds Creek Free Will Baptist Church. He was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. Sam was also a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Surviving is his wife, Beatrice (Lewis) Bunner; stepson, James Ronald Lynch of Pennsboro; brother, Michael Bunner and his wife Carolyn of Navarre, Ohio; sister-in-law, Leona Bunner of Navarre, Ohio; sister, Carmen Sowd (Ken) of Newcomerstown, Ohio; step-grandchildren, Jesse and Scott Sigley; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Sam was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Bunner.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at McCullough Funeral Home, Pennsboro, with Pastor Jim Pyles officiating. Interment will follow at Ellenboro Masonic Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday.
Sam's family would like to express their deepest thanks to all who offered prayers, cards, food and visits during his final days, and would like to thank Dr. Heavener and Dr. Bage for their care and comfort and tending to Sam's needs in his time of sickness.
