VIENNA - The second annual Cause 2 Wine to benefit SW Resources will be held from 3-5 p.m. April 20 at the Parkersburg Country Club.
Organizers hope to raise $5,000 for SW Resources, said Inger Mendoza of the Wine Basket, 1509 Grand Central Ave., Suite 11.
"We have a pretty high goal for this event, but I am sure we can do it," Mendoza said.
Diane Ludwig volunteers her time to pour wine at the Parkersburg Country Club during last year’s Cause 2 Wine benefiting SW Resources.
Tickets are $40 each and the price includes wine tastings, a wine glass and a bag to carry bottles of wine.
This year's Cause 2 Wine will include more than 50 wines from nine regions of the world.
Along with wine and light refreshments, the event will also include education on the wines available.
"It is a very nice event for people who like wine or would like to learn more about wines from around the world as they help SW Resources," Mendoza said.
About 100 people attended last year's event after it was delayed a month from the original date of June 30 when the derecho knocked out power across the area.
"We are thankful that the community continued to support the event and hope this year will be bigger without any issues," Mendoza said.
A VIP event will be held from 2-3 p.m., prior to the main event made possible by hosts Mark and Allyson Liebendorfer, owners of The Country Vintner of West Virginia, a prominent wine distributor.
Premium wines valued at $50 or 90-plus points will be featured during this hour, along with complimentary hors d'oeuvres. These wines will not be available during the main tasting event.
"The VIP event is separate from the main event and tickets are sold separately," Mendoza said.
She added that tickets for the VIP tasting will allow the ticket holder to stay for the main event, but tickets for the main benefit will not cover the VIP hour.
Without the support of community businesses, SW Resources would not be able to provide the quality of services it does for clients and employees, officials said. The organization is planning to use the funds raised by this event, in conjunction with the annual auction, to continue providing rehabilitation and employment services to its client-employees.
Tickets for the Cause 2 Wine are available at the Wine Basket, Community Bank on Juliana Street and SW Resources on Seventh Street in Parkersburg.
Tickets to the VIP event are limited and available through the Wine Basket only.
