Edward G. Stephenson, 61, of Parkersburg, passed away Feb. 20, 2013, at Riverside Hospital in Columbus.
He was born to Nora and George Stephenson of Levittown, N.Y., on Aug. 18, 1951.
Ed found his way to West Virginia via Salem College and began teaching in schools in Doddridge and Wirt counties. He then became a Uniserv consultant with the West Virginia Education Association and retired to begin working in a similar capacity with the Ohio Education Association. His love of a good fight made his work a perfect fit.
Ed is survived by his brother, George of Pennsylvania, and three nieces. He is also survived by his lifelong friend, Kevin Whitby and his wife, Kathy, along with Spagna's and Harmar Tavern friends. He also is missed by longtime friends Brenda Brum, Sally Greathouse and many other education and social friends.
Ed had a love for cars, good food, travel and fun. He enjoyed the Florida Keys at Christmas and his ashes will be taken there.
Always a lover of animals and their unconditional love, Ed requests that we support the Humane Society in his memory. A memorial will be held at a later date.
