Parkersburg man arrested in burglary case

PARKERSBURG - Parkersburg detectives arrested Casey Douglas Saunders, 22, 906 Lynn St., Parkersburg, Thursday in connection with the Jan. 16 burglary at a home on Virginia Avenue.

Officials said Saunders was taken into custody in the 1900 block of 16th Street on charges of felony burglary and grand larceny. Saunders was arraigned in Wood County Magistrate Court and held on a $30,000 bond in the North Central Regional Jail, police said.

Police released images from the home's surveillance system and asked the public's help.

"Numerous tips were received by the department," Sgt. Greg Collins said.

Saunders allegedly entered a home at 915 Virginia Ave. through the basement, stealing more than $13,000 in items, according to police reports. He is also accused of stealing a vehicle from the home estimated to be worth about $9,600. The Wood County Sheriff's Office discovered the stolen vehicle, abandoned.
