Ann Park Blankensop, 82, of Beaufort, S.C., and Parkersburg, W.Va., died Feb. 7, 2013, after an extended illness.
Born Dec. 8, 1930, in Marietta, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late James Patrick Donnelly and Virginia Park Donnelly.
Ann graduated from high school and attended college in Richmond, Va. She married Robert Edward Blankensop in 1950. They lived in Richmond for several years before moving to Parkersburg where Robert worked for E.I. Dupont then joined his family business, Ideal Box Company. Ann raised three children, Robert Edward Blankesop Jr. of Parkersburg, Catherine Park Keup of Beaufort, S.C., and Susan Ann Ewing of NYC and Pawling, N.Y.
She was active in the community, serving two terms as president of the Junior League of Parkersburg and president of PEO Chapter L. Ann was very involved in Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, serving in the altar guild, choir, Sunday school, Bible school and spearheaded the Parish Hall addition project in the '60s. She loved her family first and foremost but also enjoyed gardening, tennis and traveling. Ann had a deep compassion for animals and loved her many family pets. Her grace and strength influenced everyone she met, whether they were strangers, friends or family. She will be missed and remembered always.
In addition to her parents, Ann was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Robert Edward Blankensop. She is survived by her three children; and five grandchildren, Benjamin, Victoria, Catherine, Robert III and Brandon. She is also survived by her brother, James Donnelly, and a cousin Evelyn Frost, both of Parkersburg.
A memorial service will be held for friends and family at Good Shepherd Church at a later date. Burial will be in the church columbarium.
The family asks that memorial donations be made to the Humane Society of Parkersburg.
