VIENNA -Danielle Dunnagan's 3-pointer at the end of the first overtime enabled Ohio Valley University to defeat West Virginia State 70-69 in double overtime Thursday night at the Snyder Activity Center.

A total of five OVU players scored in double figures, including Saira House who put the Fighting Scots in front 34-21 in the final minute of the first half thanks to a pair of free throws.

OVU owned a double-digit lead midway into the second half before West Virginia State rallied to tie the game at 52 with six seconds left in regulation on a pair of free throws from Jordan Brock.

Keshauna Cook's free throws with seven seconds remaining in the first overtime left OVU trailing 61-58. Off an assist from from Shelby Way, Dunnagan beat the buzzer with a game-tying 3-pointer.

OVU scored the first six points of the second overtime, but West Virginia State managed to close within 70-67 with time winding down. Cook missed a 3-pointer with two seconds showing and teammate India Taste converted the putback for the final one-point difference.

Way led OVU (2-21, 2-17 WVIAC) with 14 points, while Kayla Parsley and Jasmine Gibson each tossed in 12 points. House accounted for 11 points, while Brooks added 10 points.

Former Parkersburg South standout Asia Greenleaf produced a double-double for West Virginia State (10-13, 9-10) after turning in 12 points and 14 rebounds.

Marshall 59, UTEP 47

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. Marshall women's basketball upset the second-ranked team in Conference USA, UTEP, on Thursday evening, defeating the Miners 59-47 in the Cam Henderson Center.

Marshall improved to 8-15 (2-8 C-USA) with the win and recorded its second-straight conference victory on home court. UTEP dropped to 18-5 (6-4 C-USA) with the loss.

The Thundering Herd had four players score in double-digits. Leading the mix was Suporia Dickens, who had 15 points after going 4-of-5 from behind the three-point arc. The point total ties a career-high and the four three-pointers marks a new career-high for three-pointers made this season.

Shay Weaver followed with 13 points after adding three three-pointers.

Northwestern 59

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Deshaun Thomas scored 22 points and No. 13 Ohio State used a late 12-0 run to beat Northwestern 69-59 on Thursday night, the Buckeyes' 32nd consecutive home win against the Wildcats.

Lenzelle Smith Jr. added 12 points - all in the first half - with Sam Thompson adding 11 and Amir Williams a career-high 10 for the Buckeyes (18-6, 8-4 Big Ten).

Pesky Northwestern (13-12, 4-8) led throughout the second half despite having only seven scholarship players due to injuries.

Tre Demps led the Wildcats with 16 points, Reggie Hearn had 12 and Dave Sobolewski 10.

W. Va. State 88, OVU 79

VIENNA -Ohio Valley University led by as many as nine points in the first half ran out of steam in the second half of an 88-79 defeat against West Virginia State.

David Sinickas accounted for seven of his team-high 19 points as the Fighting Scots bolted out to a 13-4 lead. By halftime, the game was tied at 41.

West Virginia State (10-15, 7-12 WVIAC) never trailed in the second half and enjoyed an 11-point cushion, including at 88-77 with 36 seconds remaining regulation.
