Edith Agnes Phillips, 84, of Harrisville, died Feb. 10, 2013, at her residence.
She was born July 25, 1928, at Smithville, W.Va., the daughter of the late William E. and Clara Mills Prince. She had worked at the former Shepherd's Nursing Home of Ellenboro, Rubber Crafters of Smithville, and The Ritchie County Health Dept. on the Senior Community Employment Program. She was a member of Smithville United Methodist Church. She loved baking for her family and friends, playing cards and bingo, reading and watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune on television.
Mrs. Phillips is survived by her husband, Calvin C. Phillips; daughters, Jeanette Marie DuVall (Ren) of Harrisville, Linda Kay Hogue of Cairo, and Clara Jean Newlon (Randy Timmons) of Harrisville; son, Calvin Coolidge Phillips II (Missy) of Big Springs; sisters, Betty Fortney of Belpre, Ohio, Virginia Gardener of Smithville, and Lottie Shaffer of Cairo; brother, William E. Prince Jr. of Smithville; 9 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Ann Gumm; son, Calvin C. Phillips Jr.; sisters, Elsa Cain and Madline Prince; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at Raiguel Funeral Home, Harrisville, with Pastor Darrell Farley officiating. Burial will follow in the Westfall Cemetery, Smithville. Friends may call 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
