BEVERLY - Trailing 18-12 early in the second quarter of an OVAC semifinal game against Monroe Central here Wednesday night, Fort Frye found itself in unfamiliar territory.
Instead of panicking, however, the Cadets powered their way to 26-3 run to go up 38-21 at halftime.
With the 71-41 win, Fort Frye (18-3) moves on to the OVAC championship Saturday at Ohio University Eastern, where it will square off against River. Fort Frye and River split the regular season series.
If the Cadets can continue to put the ball through the hoop the way they did against the Seminoles Wednesday in Beverly, they will be tough to beat.
Fort Frye shot 27 for 50 from the floor and made 10 of 23 (43 percent) 3-point attempts. Monroe Central, on the other hand, was 16 for 43 (37 percent) shooting in the contest.
Cheslie Roberts hit two 3-pointers early in the second period to give the 'Noles an 18-12 advantage.
