SPENCER- Two men are in custody at the South Central Regional Jail after they were arrested and charged with abduction of a Roane County woman.

Rodney Mark Workman, 28, and Timothy Maxell Drake, 31, allegedly took the woman by force Monday at a bus stop near Amma, Roane County, and drove off in a maroon SUV.

The woman, whose name has not been released, was able to escape when Workman and Drake slowed down, said West Virginia State Police spokesman Sgt. Michael Baylous.

Baylous said the woman's mother was driving around looking for her and was nearby when she escaped and helped her to get away from the two men.

Baylous said the woman was Workman's ex-girlfriend. He said Workman and Drake were arrested by West Virginia State Police at a house in the Kanawha County town of Clendenin.

"At about 4 p.m. Monday, Workman took her against her will," Baylous said. "He (Workman) is known to law enforcement since he made threats against her and authorities were watching him."

They were arraigned in Roane County Magistrate Court. Baylous said Workman was wanted in other Roane County warrants.

Workman's bond was set at $28,500 and Drake's was set at $5,000.
