Donald Place Jr.

Donald Place Jr., 72, of Belmont, W.Va., passed away Feb. 1, 2013, at the Ohio Valley Medical Center in Wheeling, W.Va.

He was born July 25, 1940, in Cutler, Ohio, a son of the late Donald E. Sr. and Merl Reip Place. He was retired from Leaman Tank Lines after 26 years, and he retired from the Teamsters Local 175 in 1999. He was a life member of the St. Marys Elks Lodge 1701, and played guitar with the True Country Band. His hobbies included woodworking, music, reading and WVU Football.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Susan Felter Place; two sons, Donald E. (Penny) Place III of Columbus, Ohio, and Chad E. (Stephanie) Place of St. Marys, W.Va.; five grandchildren, Matthew Place of Columbus, Ohio, Andrew Place of Parkersburg, W.Va., Tiffany Place of Columbus, Ohio, and Madison Place and Tyler Place, both of St. Marys, W.Va.; one great-granddaughter, Gwyndlyn Scott of Columbus, Ohio; one sister, Thelma Cooper of Oregon; two brothers, Larry Place of California and Mike (Nancy) Place of Dayton, Ohio; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Ruth Roberts; and two infant brothers.

Services were held 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, at the Ingram Funeral Home, St. Marys, W.Va., with Pastor Ronda Whitaker officiating. Cremation followed the service.
