Carl B. Boyd, 70, of Athens, Ohio, passed away Jan. 27, 2013, at the Ohio State University Hospital.
He was born in Parkersburg, the son of the late Dallas Walter and Lena Virginia Wright Boyd. He had worked for many years for the A.V. Criss Barge Company. He was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting and fishing, he enjoyed watching wrestling and football, and loved his family and was a true family man who always welcomed family and friends into his home with a loving heart of hospitality.
He is survived by his former wife and friend, Crystal Irene Johnson Boyd; his children, Virginia Mobley, Carla Dye, Patricia Kiser, all of Athens, Ohio, Kimberly Widmaier of Pennsylvania, Linda Hopkins of Nelsonville, Ohio, Lisa Boyd of Gallipolis, Ohio, Betty Boyd of The Plains, Ohio, Donna Boyd, Michael Boyd, James Boyd, Jazzlynn Boyd, Kialie Boyd, all of Athens, Crystal Mobley of Columbus and Carl Mobley of Athens; his grandchildren, Lena, Lacey, Amanda, Kelly, Shelly, Rebecca, Heather, Jessica, Jennifer, Lanie, Emily, Alexis, Caitlyn, Jayde, Mackenziegh, William Jr., Robert Jr., Charles, Eric and Dillon; 9 great-grandchildren; his brothers and sisters, Loretta, Jeanine, Donna, Grace, Patty, Kathy, Jimmy and Michael; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Jackie; a brother, Jack; an infant sister, Janet; and two other sisters, Linda and Betty.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Saturday at the Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg, with a service to follow at 8 p.m.
