Parkersburg News and Sentinel

Ellen Virginia Cain, beloved mother and grandmother, left this mortal life Jan. 24, 2013, to be with the angels in heaven.

In December, she celebrated 94 years on earth. Mrs. Cain was born Dec. 2, 1918, at Petroleum, a daughter of the late Lewis Wesley and Emma Webb McFarland. She was the eighth and last child of their loving family.

She graduated from Pennsboro High School. On Jan. 30, 1937, she married Orlton Kensel Cain, and they raised four children in various neighborhoods in Parkersburg before moving, in 1956, to a house in Vienna that they built together.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ken in 1991; a son, Dr. Randy Cain in 2006; and all her siblings, Beulah Riddle, Goldie Bruffey, Marguerite Thrash and Raymer, Theo, Chester and Wilbur McFarland.

She is survived by one son, Terry Cain of Vienna; two daughters, Liane Showalter of Vienna and Judy Luck and her husband, Greg, of Colbert, Wash.; six grandchildren, Mark Sutton of Vienna, Deborah Cain of Parkersburg, Carisse Cain, Joslyn Cain and Jennah Luck-Flinders (Jeremy) of Spokane, Wash., and Bethany Luck-Hutson (Chad) of Pittsburgh; and six great-grandchildren, Ayden, Nadyia, Tyce, Caliana and Aven and another great-grandson due in April.

She was a charter member of Fellowship Baptist Church.

The family will have a private service, but in honoring Mrs. Cain's wishes, there will be no public visitation or service.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Vaughan Funeral Home, 1010 Murdoch Ave., Parkersburg.

For those considering an expression of sympathy, memorials may be made to Paralyzed Veterans of America, 801 18th St, N.W., Washington, DC 20006, or Fellowship Baptist Church, P.O. Box 5099, Vienna, WV 26105.

A guestbook is available for sending condolences to the family at www.vaughanfh.com
