Lorraine E. Kerns

Lorraine Enoch Kerns, 94, passed away peacefully on Jan. 19, 2013, at Quarry Manor Assisted Living.

She was born April 8, 1918, in Ritchie County. She was the only child of Stokewell Jackson and Iva Brown Enoch. She spent her adult life as an Army wife with her beloved husband Col. Merlin C. Kerns. After 30 years of military services they retired to Alexandria, Va., where she resided until coming to Charleston.

Lorraine is survived by daughter, Kathie Whitler and son-in-law Robert and son, Jack Kerns and daughter-in-law, Irene Munze; grandsons, Matthew and Michael Whitler, and great grandsons, Aiden, Alexander and Henry Whitler.

The family would like to thank the caring staff at Quarry Manor for the love and tenderness they showed our Mother. She enjoyed her three years living there and considered it her home.

Lorraine will be buried with her husband Merlin in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. There will be a visitation on Saturday, Jan. 26, from 1-3 p.m. at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home.
