Columbus man facing drug charge

PARKERSBURG - A Columbus man was arrested just before midnight Tuesday by the Parkersburg Police Department in the 1000 block of 19th Street, officials said.

Kyle Juan Smith, 19, was arrested after a traffic stop and charged with possession of 76 oxycodone hydrochloride pills, police said. According to reports, Smith was the passenger of the 2004 Dodge Intrepid stopped for making an illegal lane change on 19th Street in Parkersburg.

A police canine unit found the pills in a plastic bag hidden in the crotch area of Smith's pants. Police also seized $1,700 from the man.

Smith was arraigned before Magistrate Robin Waters on a felony possession with intent to deliver charge. He failed to post a $100,000 bond and was transferred to the North Central Regional Jail.
