Together with their parents, Mackenzie Lackey and Christopher Childers announce their engagement.
The bride-to-be is the daughter of Keith and Therese Lackey of Guysville, Ohio, and is a 2003 graduate of Federal Hocking High School. She attended Ohio University where she majored in early childhood education and received a graduate degree as a reading specialist in 2009.
She taught in Wood County as an English teacher at Van Devender Middle School and is teaching preschool in Kanawha County Schools.

The prospective bridegroom is the son of Robert and Susan Childers of Washington, W.Va., and is a 2003 graduate of Parkersburg South High School. He attended Marshall University and obtained a business management degree in 2007.
He is a roadmaster with CSX Railroad.
A March wedding is planned. The couple reside in Charleston.
