Janni Annette Crumpler Spaur, 52, passed away on Jan. 19, 2013, at Charleston Area Medical Center, in the presence of her family, after a six and a half year battle with cancer.
She was born May 10, 1960, in Parkersburg, to the late David Carroll Crumpler and Zelma Chloe Britton Crumpler. Janni graduated from Parkersburg High School and attended West Virginia Wesleyan College. She married Perry Lee Spaur in December of 1981. After being employed at J.C. Penney and First Federal, she worked with her husband at their motorcycle shop, Roadrunner Custom Cycles, for several years. At the time of her death, she was the Executive Officer at the Parkersburg Board of Realtors, where she had made many good friends.
Janni was a very strong, loving, caring person who was involved in many community activities. She had planned many fundraisers sponsored by the realtors for area charities which raised thousands of dollars. She coordinated educational realtor classes for West Virginia and Ohio. She was on the Board of Coalition for the Homeless, and a member of the National Association of Executive Officers. She was also a Wood County 4-H Leader for 15 years, a Wood County 4-H Camp Trustee, and a member of the Sand Hill CEOS Club. She was a member of the Vienna Baptist Church, but had attended the Sand Hill United Methodist Church for many years. She loved most of all spending time with her family at their farm, and was so proud of their remodeled turn of the century farm house. She loved antique shopping, auctions, traveling, camping, gardening, motorcycle rides and helping others.
She was most proud of her two sons, PJ Spaur of Jefferson Hills, Pa. and Austin Spaur of Bridgeport, W.Va. She was blessed to see them grow into two fine young men.
In addition to her husband, Perry, she is survived by her sister, Annie Lewellyn (Lew) of Williamstown. She was "Aunt Janni "to many including David Lewellyn (Krista) of Buckhannon, Dee Dee Gains of Parkersburg, Matt Lewellyn (Jill) of Williamstown, Brooks Jones and Caitlyn Stealey (Jason) of Lumberport, and Ryan Post of Olean, N.Y.; and "Great Aunt Janni" to Katie, Kassie and Brady Gains, Chase, Makenzi, Kennedi, Luke and Jennessa Lewellyn, and Gavin Stealey; sisters-in-law, Donna Post (Roy) of Clarksburg and Hope Jones (Gregg Gruse) of Lumberport; brother-in-law, David Spaur (Kristi) of Queen Creek, Ariz.; and father-in-law, Thurman Spaur (Katie Spaur). In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Shirley Spaur.
