Donna Rosalie (Rose) Nowery Bungard, 86, died peacefully at her home on Stillwell Creek in Wood County, on Jan. 21, 2013.
She was born July 16, 1926, in Parkersburg, W.Va., the daughter of the late Josiah Longfellow and Sheila Blanche( Curtis) Nowery. Rose grew up on the family farm on Loomis Ridge in Wood County, and after her graduation from Parkersburg High School in 1943, worked for S. S. Kresge until 1948. She was a homemaker, and also worked for the Top Value Stamp Redemption Store for several years. Rose and her husband, Paul, were married on May 6, 1949, and were together for 63 years, living on their farm on Stillwell Creek in Wood County, until his death on Jan. 7, 2013. She was a member of the Murphytown Baptist Church, and had attended the Stillwell United Methodist Church for many years. She was also a 50 year member of the Clara Edna Chapter of the Eastern Star #140.
Rose is survived by her daughter, Connie S. (Jim) Eakle of Davisville; son, Emerson E. (Diana Lynn) Bungard of Davisville; and grandson, Adam Paul Dotson of Lewisburg, W.Va. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents and husband, Rose was preceded in death by an infant son, Earl L. Bungard; and her sisters, Clara Irene (Nowery) Smith and Agnes Nowery.
Mom and Dad were great parents and grandparents who prepared us for what lay ahead in life. They had many close friends and family members, and will be greatly missed by all who knew them.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg, with Rev. Jim Eakle officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Wednesday.
