James Carl Brooks, 82, of Little Hocking, Ohio, died on Jan. 21, 2013, at the Muskingum Valley Nursing Home.
He was born in Belpre, Ohio, on Sept. 19, 1930. He was the son of the late George David Jr. and Hazel Hunter Berry Brooks. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He graduated from Belpre High School in 1948, and retired from Elkem as a welder.
Survivors include his wife, Janice L. Brooks; a son, Dave (Ruthie) Brooks; daughters, Penny (Milt) Morris, Kim (Jim) Anderson, Sherri (Greg) Rogers, Karen Schoolcraft and Debbie Hart; his grandchildren, Jessica (Jeremy) Thomas, Lisa (John Bob) Spiker, Curt (Katie) Morris, Kristen Anderson and Casey Anderson; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, JoAnn Mars Brooks; and his daughter, Kendra.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre, with Ron Laughery officiating. Burial will follow in the Rockland Cemetery. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
