Hallie Grace Burdette Garrett, 94, of Manitowoc, Wis., passed away Jan. 16, 2013, at St. Mary's Home, Felician Village.
She was born May 6, 1918, in Roane County, W.Va., the daughter of L.D. and Mollie (Kelley) Burdette, and graduated from Spencer High School.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carroll D. Garrett; her daughter, Judith Garrett Cowan; two sisters; and one brother.
She married Carroll D. Garrett in 1936. They spent most of their married life living in Spencer and Washington, W.Va.
She is survived by her son, James W. Garrett (Janet) of Manitowoc, Wis.; three grandchildren, Katherine Garrett McCarthy (Bart) of Port Edwards, Wis., Steven Cowan (special friend, Brenda) of Parkersburg, W.Va., and Andrew James Garrett (Tammy) of Manitowoc, Wis.; six great-grandchildren; and one nephew.
Hallie was an active member of Washington United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She was a 60-year member of DAR James Wood Chapter, and a founding member of Roane County Girls and Pioneer Daughters. An avid collector of antique pottery and china, Hallie enjoyed her home and family.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Washington United Methodist Church, Washington, W.Va. Officiating at the service will be Pastor David Calvert, with burial to follow at Spencer, W.Va. The family will greet relatives and friends from 9:30-11:00 a.m. Monday before the service.
