PARKERSBURG - Two more people overdosed on heroin late Thursday night, according to the Parkersburg Police Department.
Officers were dispatched about 9 p.m. to a north Parkersburg home where they found firefighters and paramedics aiding a 22-year-old woman and a 31-year-old man, both unresponsive, police spokesman Sgt. Greg Collins said. The woman was in a bedroom and the man was on the living room floor, Collins said.
The man regained consciousness at one point and told paramedics he and the woman had been doing heroin while a caller to the 911 Center also said the two were doing heroin, Collins said.
Both victims were taken to Camden Clark Medical Center by ambulance and are expected to fully recover, Collins said.
Evidence was collected and charges are possible pending the outcome of test results, Collins said.
The incidents are the third heroin-related cases in the past week. The police department investigated two suspected heroin overdoses last week, one resulting in the death of a 27-year-old woman at a north end home, the police department said.
The woman died the night of Jan. 12 with indications she died from a heroin overdose, but at least one prescription drug could possibly be involved, the police department said.
On Jan. 11, police charged Charles Andrew Wade, 29, 1303 36th St., Parkersburg, with possession of a controlled substance after he was found unresponsive on the bathroom floor at 7-Eleven at 2320 Gihon Road.
