Parkersburg News and Sentinel

Rose Marie Eddy, 82, of Dale, W.Va., passed away peacefully on Jan. 10, 2013, at United Hospital Center, Clarksburg, W.Va.

Rose Marie was born April 9, 1930, in Alvy, W.Va., the daughter of the late Ira and Nettie Lemasters Ash. She was a member of the Dale Church of Christ, and was a very devoted wife and mother. In her early years, Rose Marie led a very busy life filled with various Farm Women and 4-H meetings, Tupperware parties and for a time, she worked at Corning Glass in Paden City. But most of her time was devoted to her husband and children. This time of year, Rose Marie was especially busy because she was putting together a sleigh ride party, a taffy pull, making popcorn balls or some sort of activity to keep six kids of various ages entertained during the long winter nights. Talking with her children, however, they are sure to tell you they were most entertained by her automotive prowess. After the children had grown, Rose Marie enjoyed traveling with her husband, Jim, to California, Las Vegas, Florida and the Bahamas. Her later years were filled with doting on the 57 children that called her Grandma, buffeted by frequent leisurely trips to Big Bear Lake with her husband. She lived out her life surrounded by her family and many others who loved her.

Rose Marie is preceded in death by her husband, James in 2010; parents, Ira and Nettie Ash; brothers, Roger, Jerry, Larry and Victor Ash; sister, Marilee Roth; and two grandsons, Michael William and Aaron Dean Eddy. Rose Marie is survived by a sister, Sandra Cox of Rockport, W.Va.; six children, Michael (Sandy) Eddy of Core, W.Va., Debra (Harold) Miller of Dale, James C. Eddy (Joanne Winter) of Dale, Timothy (Anna) Eddy of Point Pleasant, W.Va., Jane (Ralph) Thomas of Dale and Andy Eddy of Dale; 19 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren.

Friends and family will be received 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. today at Furbee Funeral Home, Route 18, Tyler, where services will be held 1:30 p.m. Sunday, with Evangelist Bill Ferrell officiating. Interment in Lyons Cemetery, Dale.

Expressions of sympathy may be offered to the family at www.furbeefuneralhome.com
