David L. Givens, 79, of Belpre, passed away peacefully on Jan. 8, 2013, at Camden Clark Medical Center, Memorial Campus, surrounded by family and friends.
He was born June 4, 1933 to the late James Dudley and Gladys Cullum Givens.
He was a graduate of Parkersburg High School, Class of 1951, served in the Navy from 1953 to 1957 during the Korean War Conflict, an employee of DuPont for 33 years, a member of Masonic Lodge # 609 and American Legion Post #64 and attended Belpre Church of Christ. He was an avid bowler and golfer.
Surviving family are wife Anna Sue Weekley Givens, daughters Deborah and Kelly Givens, step-daughters Joyce (Steve) DeLancey, Shari Smith, and Molly Dougherty, step- grandchildren Alana, Jeff and Stephen DeLancey, Justin, Amanda and Jayson Beardsley, Melissa Wildman, Tisha Grogg, Angelo Martinovich and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred O'Dell Givens, his parents and sisters, Margaret Bailey and Betty Umpleby, and step-son Alan Townsend.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday at Leavitt Funeral Home in Belpre followed by funeral services at 1 p.m. with Ron Laughery officiating assisted by Jeff Stevenson. Burial will be held at Rockland Cemetery.
The family requests donations be made to the Belpre Church of Christ, the Parkinson's Association, or the Alzheimer's Association.
