Russell ‘Lewis’ Jackson Jr.

Russell "Lewis" Jackson Jr., 80, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Jan. 5, 2013, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va.

He was born Aug. 13, 1932, in Belpre, Ohio, the son of the late Russell Lewis Jackson Sr. and Lora Alaska Jordan Jackson.

Lewis was a member of Southside Southern Baptist Church. He enjoyed camping in his RV until his health failed, gospel sings, going to the beach and he especially enjoyed long car rides with his wife, Sonya. He worked at Bell Perma Stone Co. for many years, and retired from O'Ames Company Plant 1 in 1990 after 25 years of service.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sonya Marie Logston Jackson; three sons, Jeffrey Lee Jackson Sr. of Racine, Ohio, Bryan (Karen) Lewis Jackson of Parkersburg and Eric David Jackson of Parkersburg; one daughter, Cheryl (Gilbert) Lou Richards of Mineral Wells; 10 grandchildren, Jeffrey Lee Jackson Jr., Amy Beth Lamp, Steven Lee Polsley, Joshua Adam Posley, Jessica (Paul) Schnell Koehler, Anthony Bryan Jackson, Gregory Lewis Jackson, Alexis Glover Jackson, Cory Lee Bunner and Johnathan Russell Tippens; six great-grandchildren, Austin and Dylan Lamp, Taven and Caleb Polsley and Chase Jackson and Carter Hupp; one sister, Ruth Dawson of Belpre; and two brothers-in-law, Bruce Barton of Marietta and Don Peck of Belpre. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, along with his dog, Maddie.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Nick Jordan, James Jackson and Wayne Aaron Jackson; three sisters, Opal Jackson, Clara (Bruce) Barton and Rosalia Marie Peck; and two great-grandchildren, Carrie Ann Polsley and Matthew Carl Jackson.

Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre. The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with Pastor Paul Drake officiating. Interment will follow the service at Rockland Cemetery in Belpre.
