Catherine Eliza Ellenwood, 91, formerly of Belpre, died on Jan. 1, 2013, at Wesley Glen Nursing Home in Columbus, Ohio.
She was born in Belpre, Ohio, on Jan. 23, 1921, and was the daughter of the late O. Dale and Mabelle McGrew Ellenwood.
She was a 1938 graduate of Belpre High School, the CCMH School of Nursing in 1942 and Ohio University in 1969, with her Master's Degree. She had been a member of the U.S. Army Nurse Corps during World War II, having served from 1945 to 1946 reaching the rank of Lieutenant. She retired from Camden Clark in 1983, where she had been an instructor, Director of Continuing Education and Director of Nurses.
Survivors include a cousin, Wendell Ellenwood of Columbus, Ohio; special friends, Anne (Robert) Carver of Columbus, Jayne Mercer, Mary (Joseph) Tufts and Catherine Carver; and many, many friends.
Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Belpre Congregational Church, with the Rev. Jeff Attwater officiating. Friends may call at the church from noon-1 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will follow at Rockland Cemetery.
Catherine lived her life in humble Christian service to her Lord, her family, her friends, her career, her church and her country.
