These ideas were sent to me by a friend. Although they're titled as "travel plans," they're also excellent ideas of how to shape your new year.
* I have been in many places, but I've never been in Cahoots. Apparently, you can't go alone. You have to be in Cahoots with someone.
* I've also never been in Cognito. I hear no one recognizes you there.
* I have, however, been in Sane. They don't have an airport; you have to be driven there. I have made several trips there, thanks to my friends, family and work.
* I would like to go to Conclusions, but you have to jump, and I'm not too much on physical activity anymore.
* I have also been in Doubt. That is a sad place to go, and I try not to visit there too often.
* I've been in Flexible, but only when it was very important to stand firm.
* Sometimes I'm in Capable, and I go there more often as I'm getting older.
* One of my favorite places to be is in Suspense! It really gets the adrenalin flowing and pumps up the old heart! At my age I need all the stimuli I can get!
* I may have been in Continent, and I don't remember what country I was in. It's an age thing. They tell me it is very wet and damp there.
And this list of "tips" for a new year came from a friend via email, with author's credits going to Jon Gordon and Regina Brett. Some thoughts to apply as you great the new year:
1. Take a 10-30-minute walk every day and while you walk, smile.
2. Sit in silence at least 10 minutes each day.
3. When you wake up in the morning complete the following statement: "My purpose is to today."
4. Live with the 3 E's Energy, Enthusiasm and Empathy and the 3 F's - Faith, Family, Friends.
5. Spend more time with people over 70 and under the age of 6.
6. Dream more while you are awake.
7. Try to make at least three people smile each day.
8 Realize that life is a school and that you are here to learn. Problems are simply a part of life that appear and fade away like algebra class but the lessons you learn will last a lifetime.
9 Smile and laugh more. It will keep the energy vampires away.
10. Life is too short to waste hating anyone.
11. Don't take yourself too seriously. No one else does.
12. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagreements.
13. Make peace with the past so it won't mess up the present.
14. Don't compare your life with others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
15. Burn the candles. Use the nice sheets. Don't save it for a special occasion. Today is special.
16. No one is in charge of your happiness but you.
17. Forgive everyone for everything.
18. What other people think of you is none of your business.
19. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
20. Time heals almost everything. Give time ... time.
21. Your job won't take care of you when you're sick. Your friends will stay in touch.
22. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.
23. The best is yet to come.
24. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.
25. Do the right thing.
26. Call your family often.
27. Each night before you go to bed, complete the following statements: "I am thankful for" and "Today I accomplished"
28. Remember that you are too blessed to be stressed.
29. Enjoy the ride. Remember this is not Disney World and you certainly don't want a fast pass. Make the most of it and enjoy the ride.
30 Life isn't fair but it's still good.
