Mary Lorine Pratt, 82, of Surfside Beach, S.C., formerly of Ellenboro, passed away on her birthday Dec. 28, 2012, at her residence.
She was born in 1930, at Maxwell, Pleasants County, W.Va., a daughter of the late George Coleman Cox and Gertrude (Douglas) Cox.
Mary retired with 20 years service from the PRT Center as an Industrial Arts Teacher. She was the chairman of the WVVA, and Teacher of the Year in 1993. Mary was a member of Pennsboro Rebekah Lodge, where she held numerous offices. She was a member of Ellenboro United Methodist Church, and currently a member of Seaside Community Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Stevanna Pratt and Joyce Bowie of Surfside Beach, S.C.; son, Dave Pratt (Vicki) of Pennsboro; sister, Louanna Parks of Ellenboro; and brother, Harold "Joe" Cox of St. Marys. She also leaves behind four grandchildren, Jody Gethers, Justin Richardson, Amber Hodge and David N. Pratt; nine great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Lee Pratt Jr.; brothers, Henry, Robert and Charles Cox; sister, Ruth Satterfield; and grandsons, Jeff Brookover and Travis Steele.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at McCullough-Rogers Funeral Home, Pennsboro, with Pastor Tim McKenzie officiating. Interment will follow at Ellenboro Masonic Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday.
