PARKERSBURG - Wood County Schools has announced the winners of the 2012 Wood County Science Fair.
The event, held Dec. 18 at West Virginia University at Parkersburg, featured 145 projects by students in grades 4-8 from the county's public and private schools.
The fair also featured three third-grade exhibition projects from Greenmont, Madison and Williamstown elementary schools.

Nia Fernandes, a seventh-grader at Jackson Middle School, was named Best of Fair at the 2012 Wood County Science Fair for her project “Gender Differences in Attention in Middle School.”
In addition to winners in each project category for each grade level, judges awarded one project with a Best of Fair award. This year the award went to Nia Fernandes, a seventh-grader at Jackson Middle School, for her project "Gender Differences in Attention in Middle School."
