James E. Griffith, 90, of Parkersburg, passed away Dec. 26, 2012, at his home.
He was born Jan. 1, 1922, in Sandyville, W.Va., a son to the late Albert and Anna Richards Griffith. He was a WWII U.S. Army veteran, serving in Italy and then went on to work and retire from G.E. Plastics. He served as a Little League baseball coach, was an avid woodcrafter, loved the outdoors, never met a stranger and was always there to help. He served many years as a Deacon at Bible Baptist Church.
Jim is survived by his wife of 66 years, Beatrice "Peggy" Conger Griffith; three sons, Roger Giffith (Donna) of Parkersburg, Randy Griffith (Sheila) of Ormond Beach, Fla. and David Griffith (Dianne) of Colorado Springs, Colo.; grandchildren, Rhonda, Wendy, Alison, Kelly and Lukas James; great-grandchildren, Alexandria, Ash, Breanna and Samantha; along with many extended family and friends.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather that will be terribly missed by all.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and five sisters.
Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Pastor Dan Stevens officiating. Visitation will be from noon till the time of service on Sunday.
